YASS! participants — we have some exciting news about more fun activities you can do each month!
L’Arche North Carolina welcomes you to the Bulla Center for some innovative program activities. On September 7, they will be hosting Cook Together and have invited us to join.
This week, we will be making three different flavors of homemade “Larabars” – Classic, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Blueberry Lemon!! These are delicious, cost-effective treats with easy to follow recipes.
What to expect during this afternoon time of food and fellowship:
1. We first gather around tables and introduce ourselves. At this time, we share what we are celebrating this week (e.g. a birthday, our sports team won, a family member visiting, a new job, etc.). We then ask a get-to-know-you “This or That” question, such as “Do you like Salty or Savory?” “Do you prefer the mountains or the beach?”
2. Next, we review the recipe we are making for the day. If it’s a group recipe, we break into small groups of 2-3 persons per table.
3. We create the recipe together, following the step-by-step directions (no cooking experience is needed to join us). Sometimes we make recipes that require an oven or stove, other times we make a treat or snack that does not require any kitchen appliances.
4. We eat and enjoy our newly made treat.
5. We clean up together.
6. If we finish early, we may play a game.
We ask everyone to please RSVP so that we have enough supplies.
Registration closes September 5 at 11:59 pm so that supplies can be purchased in advance.
